adult piano lessons

“The piano keys are black and white, but they sound like a million colors in your mind” – Maria Cristina Mena

no talent is required!

You are a grown-up, but that doesn’t mean you have to behave like one. We are proud of our diverse and active enrollment of adult learners of all ages, personalities and backgrounds. Through our trademarked methodology, we guarantee that you will play the piano through reading music.

We want you to make music for your own enjoyment. We are not going to force you to spend hours per day playing scales and exercises, nor do we think that only songs written before 1750 are those of any importance.

Our students, no matter their age, are always more important than the music they are playing. We will help you succeed on your terms with materials that are both engaging and educational for you. A great song is a great song, no matter who wrote it. You’re a big kid now and you deserve to have a little fun along the way.

private lessons

Private lessons for adults offers the most customization for your abilities. Private lessons are scheduled 30 minutes per week and are billed as monthly tuition of $139/month, which includes all books and materials.

As our students in private lessons require a variety of music in many different styles, this flexibility allows your tuition to remain consistent as you progress into more complex materials.

Whether a beginner or an adult returning to the piano, private lessons are the most adaptable to your abilities and will help you meet your personal goals; so a short preliminary meeting is suggested. A piano is required to achieve the full benefit of private lessons.

six-week introductory classes

beginners

If you look at a page of music and go “huh?”, then this is the class for you! Whether you are 23 or 93, we have literally written the book to get you started.

This fun 6-week course meets once per week with emphasis on the building blocks of reading music, while playing the piano for your own enjoyment. No previous knowledge is expected. We can start your private six-week session at any time. No piano is required, but at least a keyboard is highly suggested.

i used to play piano

Been awhile? Were you a brat about practicing when you were young? We have a class for you, too! We will refresh what you knew as well as present new skills with a grown-up slant (and no judgment). This class is scheduled around you; so a short meeting is encouraged before you start. You’ll want to practice for this one, so a piano (acoustic or digital) is necessary.

how can i fit piano lessons into my busy schedule?

We are accommodating! We schedule lessons from  2:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday – Friday and can also schedule lessons on Saturday at our Worthington location. If necessary, we can reschedule lessons, too.

what if i can’t practice very much?

No problem. Let us know how much time you have to practice, and we will show you what to do to make the most progress in the least amount of time. We will make sure we practice enough in your lesson that you know exactly what to do when you get home.

i travel a lot. can i still take lessons?

Sure! Our office manager is a terrific resource. We can reschedule your lesson for the week before or the week after your scheduled time. Extended trip? Give us a call and see what we can work out.

i am not ready for a long-term commitment. can i try it?

Of course. Our adult conservatory sampler allows you to “try before you buy” by purchasing a 6-week Adult Sampler session.

i'd like to take lessons with my spouse, partner or friend, can I?

Sounds fun! We can design a custom class based on nearly any situation. We even offer group happy hour lessons, wine included (in moderation of course) if you’d like.
